Concession agreement for reconstructing Peterburgsky sports and concert complex signed

The tender was announced in October and the winner was defined in November last year.

The Government of St. Petersburg has signed a concession agreement for reconstructing the Peterburgsky sports and concert complex, the press office of the city government reports.

The tender was announced in October and the winner was defined on November 20 last year. The only contender was SKA-Arena, which was awarded the contract.

The project envisages developing a multifunctional sports and cultural complex with ice arenas, one of which should accommodate 20 thousand people and the other no fewer than 300 people.

A park with a state of the art playground zone is to be developed on the adjacent territory, where public sports events will be organized. There will be also pavilions, workshops, art studios, and a festival ground in the park.

The project is to be completed in 2023. The estimated cost of the project, the park included, is $25 billion ($407 million). The first large-scale sports event to be held in the renovated complex is expected to be 2023 International Ice Hockey World Championship.
