They will follow the route of the Russian explorers on board the yacht “Elizaveta”.
Cadets and officers of the Admiral Makarov Maritime University have set sail for the Antarctic on board the tall ship “Elizaveta” following in the steps of the Russian explorers.
They will sail via the Drake Passage to the Antarctic where they will call at the Bellingshausen polar station. On their way back, the expedition will sail around Cape Horn and berth in South America, and then traverse the Pacific and sailing along the Northern Sea Route will come to Krasnoyarsk.
The “Elizaveta” is considered a rather small yacht for an ocean voyage measuring just 17 meters LOA and 3.5 meters beam.
